Coronavirus: Everyone Should Wear A Mask - NDC Advisory Team Member

Head of the opposition National Democratic Congress Advisory Team on COVID-19, Alex Segbefia, says the current situation in Ghana requires that every person wears a nose mask to stop the spread of the deadly virus in the country.

Speaking in an interview on TV3  Mr Segbefia said with everyone being a potential carrier of the virus, it has become a necessity for all Ghanaians to wear nose masks to protect themselves and to protect the people they come into contact with against the virus.

The former Health Minister under the erstwhile John Mahama administration called on the government to engage local manufacturers to achieve this measure, which he said is very much needed since Ghana currently is not embarking on a mass testing exercise in managing the spread of the virus.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of the government’s efforts in managing the spread of Coronavirus in the country has ordered a partial lockdown in some areas with reported cases. These areas include Greater Accra, Greater Kumasi, Tema and Kasoa.

The two-week partial lockdown which imposes restrictions on movements within the affected areas is aimed at stopping further spread of coronavirus in the affected areas and none affected areas.

However, some critics of government’s measure say the effectiveness of the lockdown may have been compromised since there has been a poll of human movement from areas affected by the lockdown into non-affected areas because the order which was given on Friday night came into effect at 1:00 am on Monday morning.
