"Avoid Reading Everything Corona . . . Let's Be Positive'' - Ghana Psychological Association

“Avoid reading everything corona", Ghana Psychological Association is urging Ghanaians to sift information they feed themselves, particularly those they read online and through other mediums.

Vice President of the Association, Dr. Collins Badu Agyemang advised that not everything peddled around is consumable and healthy for the mind; hence Ghanaians should reflect on the positive side of life.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Friday, Dr. Badu Agyemang also urged media stations to avoid sensationalism in their reportage regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

He believed the sensationalism and negativity regarding the virus potentially pumps fear in people and so stated that to be mentally healthy, "we must reflect on all the good things that we have. Let’s be positive".

“Avoid reading everything corona . . . Let’s avoid . . . watching TV simply because children are at home. Indeed we must say that all emergency situations in Ghana that may change the way people behave, the way people may do their things may demand that we consider psychological assessment in the planning stage, designing and implementation of what interventions," he added.
