The restrictions on public transport in the wake of the COVID-19 still holds, President Nana Akufo-Addo stated in his seventh nation address on the pandemic.

Updating Ghanaians on Sunday, April 19, 2020, the President lifted the 3-week partial lockdown in the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area and Kasoa, and the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area and its contiguous districts.

The lifting of the lockdown took effect from 1 am on Monday, 20th April, 2020.

Although human and vehicular movements in Accra and Kumasi and other areas are possible in view of the new order by the President, operators of public transport including trotros and taxis are still under restrictions not to take more than the minimum number of passengers issued during the lockdown period.

Public transport operators are obliged to ensure social distancing in the buses as well as adhere to all the safety precautions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

''Operators of public transport, including our buses, trotros and taxis, are to continue to run with a minimum number of passengers, as they have been doing for the last three weeks in maintaining social distancing. They must also continue to ensure the maintenance of enhanced hygienic conditions in all vehicles and terminals, by providing, amongst others, hand sanitizers, running water and soap for washing of hands. Domestic airlines are required to adhere to the same protocols'', the President directed.
