The FA prefers to name a foreigner as the new man to steer the technical direction of the association.

The Ghana FA has confirmed three expatriates and three locals have been shortlisted as the search for Francis Oti Akenteng's replacement intensify.

While the identity of the shortlisted coaches has been well kept, Ghanasoccernet.com understands Ghanaians Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Bashir Hayford are among the shortlisted applicants.

However, Ghana's leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com can report that the Executive Council have laid down the marker and shown their preference for an expatriate.

An expatriate will be appointed to fill the void barring an unforeseen contingencies.

The FA will likely receive the ringing endorsement of Ghanaians if its decide to hire an expatriate.
