New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Effiduase-Asokore constituency, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has supported in his area the rural electrification project with his personal money.
 
The project runs through ten (10) communities with a population of about eight thousand people.
 
He was forced to fund the impending project after the communities had threatened to vote against the NPP in the December polls.

The contractor of the project was reported to have abandoned his work after inadequate funds from authorities to erect concrete poles to help continue with his work.  

However, the intervention of Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie who met with elders of the communities will see the recommencement of the project in due time.
