Cleaning Surfaces Crucial In COVID-19 Fight — Medic

A medical practitioner, Dr Dickson Kissi, has called on the public to prioritise cleaning surfaces such as door knobs, tables and chairs in their homes and offices to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
He explained that inasmuch as the use of hand sanitisers and regular hand washing with soap under running water were important, disinfecting surfaces was equally an important step to stop the spread of the disease.

Dr Kissi, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Deseret Hospital, said this when the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing donated cleaning agents and sanitisers to the hospital in Accra last Thursday to support the sanitary conditions at the facility.

Clean hospitals

He said the sanitary conditions in hospitals were very crucial in ensuring the wellbeing of patients, clients and staff, and, therefore, advised that all health facilities disinfected surfaces regularly.

“Health facilities, particularly the private health centres, must prioritise disinfecting tables, chairs, door knobs within facilities so patients and clients who visit the facility do not contract and spread the disease. That is why we are saying that this donation has come in handy to help keep our facility clean,” he added.

He added that the people were crucial to the development of every nation and thus called on the public to continuously obey the directive on social distancing, stay at home and wash hands regularly to stop the spread of the disease.

Dr Kissi, however, commended the public for adhering to the law during the lockdown, commenting that “although the President has lifted the restriction on movement in the affected areas in the country, we must tread cautiously in order not to contract and spread the disease”.

He said even though he had wished that the lockdown was extended for one more week, he believed that the President and his advisors were better informed to have reversed the lockdown.

Healthcare

Barima Bishop Dr Asamoah Kofi IV of the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, who made the donation on behalf of the church, said the products donated — also known as the Church’s sacramental cleaning water — had other vital benefits to improve one's overall wellbeing, and called on the public and the government to support its works.

He said the church was not only focused on the health care of its members, but also taught self-care and advocated a more organic lifestyle so people could be healthy and more productive.

“The sacrament cleaning water is given to members to restore whatever condition they may have in their system,” he said.

He expressed the commitment of the church to support so the country would win the battle against the coronavirus.
