There Were Factions In The Blacks Stars During My Time- Joe Addo

Former Black Stars and Hearts of Oak defender admitted that there were divisions in the camp of the senior national team during his time there but added that it was normal as they all came from different backgrounds.

He was part of the side that attained a silver medal in the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and placed fourth in the South African edition four years later.

In an interview on Joy FM, Addo stated that the media wanted them to be friends but it is not supposed to be like that.

“In 1994, factions almost tore the unity in the Black Stars. It was glaring. I was not part of the camp but I was told about it by my brother. There were factions in 1992 as well but we made it to the finals (AFCON). The media wanted all of us to be friends but it is not supposed to be like that. People from different backgrounds come together to play so it is normal if we are not all friends. What matters is getting results.”
