Ghana Hotels Association Supports UHAS COVID-19 Testing Centre

The Volta Regional branch of the Ghana Hotels Association has donated assorted items to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) COVID-19 testing centre in the fight against the novel coronavirus disease.

The items include a double door refrigerator, 400 pieces of Eppendorf tubes, ten surgical gowns, ten packets of powder-free gloves and five cartons of surgical masks.

The rest are a carton of hand sanitizers, six units of jumbo paper towels, a carton of hand washing liquid soup and two sets of Veronica buckets.

Mr. Mack Hotor, the Chairman of the Association in the Region who made the presentation, said it formed part of the Association’s support to the Centre to enhance its capacity.

He expressed appreciation to the government, the Volta Regional Public Health Emergency Management Committee and to the University for the contributions in the fight against the disease in the Region.

Professor John Owusu Gyapong, the Vice Chancellor of the University who received the items on behalf of the Centre, expressed gratitude to the Association for the kind gesture and support, adding that the items had met the needs of the Centre.

He noted that testing of samples at the Centre formed part of services the University could provide under community service of its tenets including teaching and research.

The Vice Chancellor further indicated that the Centre was in charge of testing samples from the Volta and Oti Regions, with results provided within 24 hours.
