Schools Need Immediate COVID-19 Steps To Start Reopening - CHOPSS

Public Relations Officer for the Conference of Heads of Private Second-Cycle Schools (CHOPSS), Mr Naphtali A. Kyei-Baffour has disclosed it will not be the best for the country that schools will continue to be closed awaiting an end to COVID-19 pandemic which has come to stay.

According to him immediate but gradual procedures need to put in place to fit schools into the situation the world finds itself, rather than authorities wanting to wait for more days before reopening of schools without putting in place any measure.

Speaking in an interview with UTV's 'Adekye Nsroma' morning show, the educationist advised that government allow final year students of JHS and SHS to start school with compulsory laid down precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

However, he explained that "teachers and students within the category mentioned must be first tested before the said date of classes begin. Frankly, the outcome of this proposal if accepted will clearly without hesitation show government the next line of action to get our schools back on track since this pandemic will not make us go back to our normal state as expected".
