President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended kingmakers and people of the Kologo Traditional Area in the Kassena Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region for the peaceful enskinment of their paramount chief.
The Kologo example, he said, was worth emulating by all.

The President observed that the enskinment of the Kologonaba Tandari Kugure Asobayire VI was without squabbles, tension and difficulties, saying, “I want to congratulate you and the people of Kologo for your efforts. You have given a good example that the rest of Ghana can look to”.

President Akufo-Addo made the commendation when the Paramount Chief of the traditional area and his elders paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House last Thursday where the Kologonaba was introduced to him.

Responding to a request for a senior high school (SHS), the President said the government intended to build more schools and that the area would be catered for.

“To ask for a senior high school from Mr Free SHS (referring to himself) is one which is very legitimate,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo said the government had plans to establish SHSs across the country to make secondary education accessible to every child in the country.

He said the government would further consider the request to desilt the dam in the area, adding that their demand for a district hospital would also be given priority and the hospital at Kologo upgraded under the government’s Agenda 88.

The spokesperson for the delegation, Mr Paul Asobayire, thanked the government for ensuring that activities before, during and after the enskinment of the paramount chief were peaceful.

He also expressed gratitude to the government for commencing work on the Navrongo-Kologo-Naga road and said it would open up the area for economic and social activities.

Mr Asobayire said the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, after the 2018 floods, offered the area immense support, especially with the construction of over 100 housing units for displaced persons.

He said one of the challenges facing the area was crime, which came in threefold: highway robbery on the Navrongo-Kologo-Naga Road, illegal logging of rosewood and nomadic herdsmen who destroyed their farms.

Mr Asobayire, therefore, appealed for the establishment of a police station at Kologo to help deal with the situation to allow the people to go about their legitimate business without fear.
