NPP's Jennifer Queen Laments Over ‘Ungratifying’ Attitude From 'Her Own People'

"When the conversation favours them, they will not call to commend you or show gratitude, but when something goes wrong or there is a report, then my own people will start spreading it and making comments,” the lamentations of a National Deputy Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Jennifer Queen was reacting to some comments made by party members after a news report.

She is reported to have advised candidates contesting the June 20, 2020, Parliamentary Primaries to hoard enough money to share to delegates.

“I understand the real game when it comes to internal elections. If you run out of money on the eve to the election day forget it. So all candidates must be prepared, hoard enough money for the few days left to the election. Don’t spend money on anything now wait after the election then you do that,” she reportedly said.

However, speaking on Neat FM's ‘Me Man Nti’ programme, Jennifer Queen said she had been misconstrued and bemoaned reactions from 'her own people'.

" . . the sad thing is that and it's unfortunate . . . if there is a media report against you, then you expect your party people to defend you, but they will be the architect, people you call your own. They will not commend you but when they hear a bad story, they will share it and send it to you on WhatsApp . . . I don't expect you to defend me but find out the truth,” she bitterly said.

According to her, "had it not been that I am a strong person, I would have broken down but I have developed a thick skin for politics . . . the painful aspect is that the sacrifices we put into the work we do are not being recorded anywhere; no one calls me to even say come for this or that contract, but if there is a useless story . . . they ask did you really say this? sometimes you get disappointed; you do all these things for the party".
