NPP Primaries: Bantama Boils As Okyem Aboagye’s Agent In Near Fisticuffs With Treasurer

Peacefmonline.com can confirm that voting was briefly disrupted at the Bantama Cultural Centre when an agent representing the incumbent Member of Parliament , Hon Daniel Okyem Aboagye, sought to prevent a delegate from casting his ballot

HelloFM's General Manager and Senior Ashanti Regional correspondent of Despite Media Group, Sampson k. Nyamekye, reports that Okyem Aboagye’s agent prevented the constituency's treasurer from voting.

The agent's action, according to Sampson Nyamekye, was grounded on the fact that the Constituency Treasurer's status as an official of the Foreign Affairs ministry does not qualify him to vote, even though his name was found in the album being used for the election.

The incident resulted in scuffle which witnessed the trading of words and some pugilism.

"....the situation led to a scuffle which witnessed some blows and slaps being dished out....but for the intervention of the security personnel in the constituency who were quick to resolve the situation it might have escalated....the treasurer was finally allowed to cast his ballot," Sampson Nyamekye narrated.

Mr okyem Aboagye is facing stiff competition from Deputy Chief of Staff, Francis Asenso Boakye for the party’s parliamentary candidature in the upcoming December general elections.
