Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah is ecstatic over a recent decision by the Supreme Court granting the EC the go ahead with the compilation of the new voters' registration exercise.

By a unanimous decision, the apex court dismissed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) case against the Electoral Commission (EC) saying the EC is an independent body and will only be directed by the court if it acts contrary to law.

Their decision further indicated that the existing voter ID card and birth certificates cannot be used as proof of identity to register in the upcoming voter registration exercise.

Speaking to this on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Simon Osei Mensah said since the 'path has been cleared by the SC', everyone should get ready to register.

"The registration is a means to an end but very important so everyone qualified should go and register...I can be the first to register and then I will also monitor everything going on".
