The phase one batch two of the voters registration exercise took off smoothly in some centres in Tema metropolis with general observance of the COVID-19 protocols compared to what occurred during the first batch.

Officials of some registration centres which had serious difficulties enforcing social distancing during the first batch had now put in the needed measures to ensure compliance.

At the Padmore School in Tema Community One which saw jostling and massing up when the exercise took off on June 30, 2020, the Ghana News Agency observed a calm atmosphere when reporters visited the centre on Monday.

A canopy had been provided under which plastic chairs had been arranged with spaces in between and a number of prospective registrants were seen seated and waiting for their turn to register.

At the Teachers Resource Centre located on the compound of the Twedaase JHS, canopies, benches and plastic chairs were all available as a number of the registrants were seated with a special sitting place created for the aged and vulnerable.

A nurse stationed at the centre charged with the responsibility of checking the temperature of anyone who visited the centre said so far the centre had not recorded any high temperature.

She was also seen encouraging and educating people on the proper wearing of masks and the need to observe social distancing.

Meanwhile, Mr Manasseh Ofosuhene Asante, Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer, had expressed satisfaction at the smooth take-off of the phase one batch two, saying all protocols were being followed to the letter.
