The President of the National Council Of Parent Teacher Associations Of Ghana, Mr. Alexander Danso says his outfit will issue an official statement on the plight of students and parents amid the COVID-19 outbreak in some Senior High Schools.
 
In an interview with NEAT FM, the Head of the Council called on parents to “relax” and shouldn’t “hesitate” to pick up their wards in affected schools.
 
“We will plead with the parents. Picking up your wards from school at this crucial moment is not the best,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyemang.
 
His plea comes after the Ghana Education Service (GES) interdicted the headmistress of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Senior High School (KNUST SHS), Ms. Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa, after the death of a student at her school on Tuesday, 7th July 2020.
 
Ms. Dankwaa has been accused of negligence by her students.
 
Accra Girls’ Senior High School case
 
Students of Accra Girls’ Senior High School also picketed at the school as part of their efforts to put pressure on the management of the school to allow them go home following reports that six of their colleagues had contracted COVID-19.
 
The anxious and fear-gripped students clustered and gathered at the schools’ premises waiting for their worried parents to come and convey them home.
