Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan Road Gets Green Light From Cabinet

The people of Tano South Municipality can now heave a sigh of relief as the road linking Bechem to Akomadan has finally been granted Cabinet approval for its construction.

In a letter signed by Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the President which referenced a letter the Roads and Highway Minister wrote for approval on July 10, 2020, Cabinet has given approval for the commencement of the road project.

The letter cites the commercial agreement between the Republic of Ghana represented by the Roads and Highway Ministry and Gabriel Couto-Rango Consortium with its approved contract sum.

The approval letter urges the Roads and Highways Minister to expedite action on the construction of the road.

The Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road forms part of the critical road networks the Akufo-Addo administration pledged to construct in the 2020 budget.

Construction of the road has been pending due to the needed approval from Cabinet which has now been granted.

The road is also to be the main route between the Ahafo Regional capital, Goaso and the Bono East capital, Techiman.

For months now, the road from Bechem to Techimantia has been unmotorable due to heavy rainfalls, making it difficult for drivers to commute between the two towns within the Tano South Municipality.

Construction is expected to commence within the next few weeks since the requisite approval has been granted.
