Akufo-Addo Govt Has An Exit Plan After WASSCE - NPP Youth Organizer

National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye has advised the general public especially the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to call for the closure of schools.

According to him, such a prompt closure due to the few recorded cases of Covid-19 in some Senior High Schools will affect the exit plan of the Ghana Education Service (GES) as there are measures in place to care for the students who may contract the virus while in school.

Speaking to Joy FM, he explained that the call from some section of Ghanaians will put the students and their parents in stress; insisting that Government and the Ministry will put in place an exit plan, the same way they had an entry plan.

“When you call for an immediate closure, it will not fit into the exit plan. The exit plan is that they will go home after they write their exams,” he explained.

Nana B as popularly known posited that the first cases recorded on the various campuses were from the communities since all the schools were disinfected before the arrival of students.

“Because majority of second years are not there, they have enough space to observe social distance protocols. They even have an isolation centres. The call from some people especially NDC that schools must be closed down is quite unfortunate and not backed by data,” he said.

He therefore called on parents and guardians not to succumb to the NDC’s call to act on panic as most of the sick students are asymptomatic which might endanger their various communities should the government comply with the demand of the public.

“Why would you want to release 580,502 to our various communities where we are still managing the situation? This is unthinkable,” he stated.
