Dr Bawumia Fulfilling His 2-bedroom house Promised To 80-year-old Leper As Work Begun Few Days Ago

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has honoured his words by beginning the construction of a 2-bedroom house as promised to 80-year-old-woman who had all 10 fingers chopped off through leprosy.

The old woman is said to have been battling the disease since her childhood.

The construction of the house came after the ‘Withered Skins’ ‘Hotline Documentary’ by Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng highlighting the dehumanising and squalid conditions the was living under.

The 2-bedroom house promise however came about when the Vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumua watched the JoyNews documentary of the sad condition of Dari Poga and therefore directed the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih to send some food, assorted items, confectionaries and toiletries worth ¢3,000 and a cash amount ¢2,000 to her.

The construction work has been ongoing over the past few days; thus, workers started with the moulding of 2,500 pieces of 5-inch while they dug the foundation of the house.

All materials needed at the construction of the modest house have already been carted to the Motori community.

Foreman in charge of the construction of the project, Mumuni Haadi is hopeful that the project will be finished in the next few months.
