"Tired" Akufo-Addo Showing Signs Of "Mental Exhaustion Syndrome"… - Asiedu Nketia Jabs

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s claim of not being aware of any form intimidation by any group of people in any of the Electoral Commission’s voters registration exercise centres across the country has been described by the General Secretary of the opposition NDC as a sign of mental exhaustion syndrome.

To him, the president's recent assertion validates his (Asideu Nketia's) call on the President to join the Auditor-General Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo in proceeding on his accumulated leave.

Nana Akufo-Addo, while addressing Islamic worshipers in Kumasi Central Mosque on Friday, 31st July 2020, after afternoon Juma Muslim prayers during the Eid-ul-Adha festivities said; “one thing that excites me most is that the registration exercise in Ashanti region and other areas has been very peaceful, I haven’t heard of any person being denied the opportunity to register on grounds that you are not this or what so go we can’t register you, every person has the right to go and register.

“What I have heard is that the exercise is going on smoothly in Asawase and Asokore-Mampong, we thank God for that. That is the most important thing to us all to live in unity and peace“.

But Asiedu Nketia, speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, posited that President Akufo-Addo's remark is a direct indication of mental fatigue.

The President is a public servant and the law on leave covers every public servant and so if he looks into the law and says that he cannot go on accumulated leave then he cannot ask someone to go on three years accumulated leave….he must also go on his accumulated leave just as he has instructed Daniel Yaw Domelevo. He is a leader and leadership is by example, he should also go on his accumulated leave because he is tired...

“To say that he is unaware of any intimidation at registration centres, it means that he is playing the ostrich; this is a clear sign of someone who is mentally fatigued. We once sacked our DCE sometime ago for suffering from mental exhaustion and if the President does not go on his accumulated leave, he will suffer the same sickness,” he jabbed.

He further stated that “when we talking of someone being mentally exhausted, we are not saying that he is going to crack stones but rather the mind to think of about the welfare of Ghanaians is tired”.

“If he is deliberately blocking his eardrums, someone draw his attention to what is happening in Banda. What he is said clearly shows that he does not respect the people of Banda or Banda is not part of Ghana because he said he has not heard anywhere in Ghana that people are being stopped from registering. Or maybe, he has deliberately blocked his ears to not listen to what is going on in Banda. Perhaps, his advisors are giving him wrong information or lying to him,” he indicated.
