Investigate Death Of Two Persons During Voter Registration Exercise If, . . . - Asiedu Nketia To Govt

General Secretary of the Opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has asked the government to investigate the cause of the death of two persons during the just ended voter registration exercise.

He says it is the surest and best way to ensure violence-free general elections.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that if the perpetrators of such heinous crime are arrested and prosecuted, it will bring finality to the matter and also make the various political parties more committed to the peace accord they have signed on to.

According to him a Member of Parliament (MP) was slapped, another was pepper-sprayed but nothing was done to these people.

"How can you ensure peace when you do not instill discipline by ensuring that those who were involved in such acts were brought before the law and justice served?" he asked.

He says he expects the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo under whose watch these things happened to clear his name by making sure that the two innocent people who were killed during the registration exercise have their matter investigated thoroughly, offenders brought before the law and punished if they are found guilty.
