Govt Should Come Out With Road Map And Specific Date For Reopening Of School - Executive Director of Philip Foundation

The Executive Director of Philip Foundation, Mr Boateng Mensah has urged government to urgently come out with a road map and specific date for the reopening of schools which were closed down because of COVID-19.

He said such road map is very necessary in order to help school Proprietors and Management or Heads, Teachers, Parents and even students to prepare for the reopening of schools.

Speaking to Peace News, Mr Boateng Mensah said many school children are currently engaged in petty trading thereby exposing them to more risk of being infected with COVID-19 due to the closure of the schools.

He also noted that learning by Zoom or other internet mediums whilst the students are currently at home is helpful but many parents are finding it difficult to bear the cost of buying data in addition to paying some fees to the schools thereby creating agitations between parents and school authorities.

Mr Boateng Mensah said the continuous closure of schools is not in the best interest of the children since no restrictions have been placed on their movements whilst they stay at home hence the urgent need for a road map and clear date for the reopening of the schools.

This he said will also help end speculations, anxiety and uncertainty of parents, school children and teachers in connection with the reopening of schools.

Mr Philip Boateng further commended President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government for the able manner in handling the fight against COVID-19.
