The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sought to wage a smear campaign against the Minister for Information and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah in the raging debate of who the man behind Tracy Boakye and Mzbel controversies is.

The NDC in trying to bring down Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah whom, many people described as “Presidential material,” has tried to capitalize on the ‘Papa No’ phrase he used in parliament last Friday.

Interestingly, the NDC’s plans have failed to click as Ghanaians refused to buy into their mischief.

It would be recalled that Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah in making a submission in the floor of parliament said, “Mr. Speaker, I want to encourage my colleagues on the other side. I want to encourage my good friend who just spoke (referring to John Jinapor). In my hometown, we will say, ‘Papa no.’ ‘Papa no.’ I want to encourage ‘Papa no’ to take some time and follow the structure of this conversation and support.”

During a debate on the floor of Parliament to approve the Agyapa Royalties Limited agreement, the MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah used the popular phrase on social media, ‘Papa No,’ which was used by actress Tracey Boakye to describe a ‘sugar daddy’ she and musician Mzbel are allegedly dating.

Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, however, explained to the house that, “Mr. Speaker, in line with order 47, of the standing orders of this house, that says that the proceedings of parliament shall ordinarily be conducted in the English language but a member, may exercise the option to address the house in either Akan, Nzema, Ga, Ewe, Hausa Dagbani or any other language provided provision exists in the house for its interpretation. Mid-way into my submissions, I said I wanted to encourage my colleague whom we will refer to in my language as Papa no who just spoke.”

The Minister for Information, also indicated that the use of ‘Papa no’ in parliament on his colleague John Jinapor, was done for amusement and was not meant to offend anybody.

However, the NDC led by Haruna Iddrisu, in their usual demeanor, launched an attack on Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah threatening him to withdraw the phrase of they will fail to recognize him as a minister.

They subsequently walked out of the house in protest.

In the same vein, National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi also took to his twitter page tagging the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah as gay.

The NDC is pretending by their actions have tried to confuse the people of Ghana amid threats; into believing that the ‘Papa No’ saga is new and that it was Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who introduced it.

The NDC’s posture at Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, according to some Ghanaians spoken to, is nothing but a diversionary tactic to pull the anger Ghanaians have against John Mahama who has become the center of attraction in the Tracy Boakye-Mzbel saga, towards Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and the NPP.
