"Professionals" Raided My Office - Pratt On Burglary

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., says he will not report the burglary at his office at Kokomlemle to the Ghana Police Service.

Kwesi Pratt's office was ransacked by some unidentified men who disabled his CCTV cameras and broke into the office Monday dawn.

Recounting the incident on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', the seasoned journalist disclosed that the robbers destroyed his reinforced gate and used iron bars to forcefully enter the office.

He was amazed the robbers didn't go to attempt to break into any of the workplaces in the immediate surrondings, but went directly to his office and thoroughly searched his drawers.

"....Kwami, they took away a phone (iPhone) and laptop which contained important documents and information about the operations of the newspaper....They further attempted to open my glass-cased book shelf but failed," he narrated.

Asked if he had reported the incident to the Police, Kwesi Pratt answered in the negative, adding that he doesn't have confidence in the Police. Besides, he said, there are many unsolved cases before the Police, pointing out that his issue was not that peculiar for the Police to accord him special attention.

He stated this is not the first time he has faced such an incident, revealing a tracker was once fixed to his vehicle in the year 2000 but the vigilance of some friends helped neutralize whatever intention the plotters had.

I don’t know what the police will be able to do. More serious crimes have been committed in this country and nothing happened. Besides we are not too sure who did what was done in my office, but it was clearly the handiwork of professionals....i know how to take care of myself and will do everything to ensure i adequately protect myself and the office in future....i don't need the assistance of the Police," Pratt said.
