Prez Akufo-Addo Has 'Bought' The Police Service To Do His Bidding – Kwaku Boahen

Kwaku Boahen, the Deputy Communications Officer of the opposition NDC, says the Ghana Police has been bought by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government.

He particularly accused President Akufo-Addo’s appointees in the Police administration of doing the bidding of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His comments comes after the Police assured it will not shield any person found culpable in perpetrating violence during the voters’ registration exercise.

Speaking on UTV’s 'Adekye Nsroma' programme, Kwaku Boahen described the Police approach as a “lazy approach . . . the Committee, investigations and all that they are saying are just to deceive Ghanaians because the Police administration is now controlled by the NPP. The NPP is using the Police for their negative agenda”.

“During the voter registration exercise, we lost people. There were gunshots, motors and cars were burnt to ashes. People are still suffering injuries; almost one month down the lane, you are here saying we should exercise patience because of investigations . . . they are just taking us for granted.

“So, they want to tell us that they did not see the Minister (Hawa Koomson) firing gunshot. Until when will they finish conducting an investigation or we should wait for the Police administration to collapse before they come up with their findings or arrest the culprits? I know their hands are tied by the Commander in Chief. In fact, the entire Police administration, especially those appointed by President Akufo-Addo have been bought,” he added.

He appealed to the Police administration to execute their duties effectively and accordingly.
