Cape Coast Airport: 'We're Tired Of Promises' - Nana Ofori Replies Nana Addo

The National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu has expressed no hope and belief in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to fulfil his 2020 manifesto to the people of Cape Coast.

During the ruling New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2020 Manifesto Launch in Cape Coast, Central Region, the President promised to establish a new harbour and airport in the Region when elected for a second term in office, come December 7 elections.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, addressing the party during the launch on Saturday, underscored the significance of the airport and additional harbour in the Region saying “for the people of Cape Coast, I have good news for you, we are building a new harbour in Cape Coast and a new airport in Cape Coast. It is very critical that we do that”.

“An airport makes a lot of sense in Cape Coast. It is a real tourist hub and between Greater Accra and Kumasi, you have a triangle that really is a hub for economic activities, you can build railway lines between them and it’s a major growth pole if we put an airport here to drive infrastructural growth,” he added.

Reacting to the Vice President's statements, Nana Ofori hollered that the Cape Coast residents are tired of promises.

According to him, every government since 1992 has given similar promises but it all turned futile.

"We're tired of promises. From 1992 to date, are you aware that they said we will have harbour, Landing bay . . . every single government has promised this and the promises always come close to elections. I don't understand why we haven't seen evidence of some of these things when every time you're promising more while the old promises haven't been fulfilled," he said on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM.

He further questioned the relevance in setting up an airport in the Region.

"Airport must support an industry. Where is the industry? Where is the work that supports it?"
