Legalising Okada: The Issue Is About Affordability – Asiedu Nketia Justifies

General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is very optimistic the legalization of Okada business by his party when voted into power will bring a change in the lives of the majority of Ghanaians.

According to him, nothing will stop the next NDC government from passing into law the use of motorbikes as a means of commercial transport.

He told NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Friday, September 18, 2020, that their readiness to legalize Okada business was a call from the electorate which they (NDC) considered reasonable.

General Mosquito, as affectionately called in politics, also slammed the NPP’s idea to loan taxis to individuals in an attempt to hogwash NDC’s Okada loan.

The issue is about the affordability of the citizens using the service . . . How many can afford a taxi?” he questioned.

He claimed Okada fare is cheaper than taxi fare – the reason why the Okada business is booming now.

“If Nana Addo says he will buy them taxis fine, but we will stick to Okada for the people,” he told Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman.
