I Salute Courageous And Bold Efforts Of Nana Akufo-Addo In Addressing COVID-19 - Okyehene

President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin used the occasion of President Akufo-Addo’s visiting tour in the Eastern Region to salute him for his courageous and bold efforts and successfully addressing the COVID-19 threat in spite of the challenges the virus has presented to the global economy.

According to the Okyehene, modern nations and great developed countries were all hit with many scientists and influencers speculating that Ghana and elsewhere in Africa would be carrying dead bodies if the disease ever got into the shores of the country but wondered how the country has been able to survive under the pandemic.

“I wish to use this occasion to salute again the courageous and bold efforts of Nana Akufo-Addo and successfully addressing the Covid-19 threat despite the challenges the virus has presented to the global economy. I wonder how we were able to survive under this,” he commended.

He stressed that President Akufo-Addo showed leadership as he calmed and made every Ghanaians relaxed in the 18 times, he has come into the living rooms of Ghanaians with his special greetings ‘Fellow Ghanaians’ and ending every segment with ‘this too, would come to pass’.

“The 18 times, Nana, you came into our living rooms with your special greetings ‘Fellow Ghanaians’, and every time you spoke, you made us relax and you told us to be calmed; ending every segment with ‘this too would come to pass’”.

“We trusted the signs and the data, you let us believe that we should wear masks, wash our hands. We should keep distances and we should eat right. Today as you sit here, Nana, we are wearing our masks; never in our history will see you Kings and Queens in masks”.

“What I am saying is that the Covid-19 has taken over our beauty, it has taken over our family and as well as our relationships because you cannot see the face of the woman you are trying to woo; some wives can be missing as we cannot see their faces,” he mentioned some of the challenges associated with the safety protocols.

But Okyehene quickly added that and encouraged that all the measures put in place by the President and the Covid-19 team are meant for their good as there is no cure in the world to eradicate the virus.

“All the measures in place are for our good as the President said we should do this and make the efforts to take care of ourselves because every effort by the world to eradicate the virus from the world has not been successful but we have managed to put the virus under control and not overwhelmed us as we are able to go on with our normal lives,” he said.

The President of Eastern Regional House of Chiefs however charged Ghanaians to continue to take care of themselves as efforts are being put in place to fight the virus and eradicate it from the country permanently.

He further charged President Akufo-Addo to build a Presidential Library in his honor, showing how he managed to fight the Covid-19 so that people all over the world will come and learn from him.

The day he will end his work which will be after 2024, if he is building his Presidential Library, he should make it known how he managed to fight the Covid-19 so that people all over the world will come and learn.

He again described President Nana Akufo-Addo as a man of courage who has the nation at heart; thus, the President has demonstrated with his effort in the fight against the Covid-19 that he does not want anything to overwhelm him and the nation as well, explaining why he came out to announce free water and electricity in spite of the effect of the Covid-19 on the economy.

“He has demonstrated again that, he is a man of courage who has his nation at heart and does not want anything to overwhelm him and overwhelmed us, spent the time to assess the situation and came out that there should be free water and electricity in spite of the Covid-19 effect on the economy,” he stated.

“It makes you wonder, asking where the President got the money to make these things happen but the astute management of the economy led his own younger brother Ken Ofori Atta has been able to in the midst of this disease, this microscopic deadly virus works to the extent that many other countries learn from us,” he stressed.
