NPP To 0ffer Better Alternative To Okada Riders - Sammi Awuku

Sammi Awuku, the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says NPP has a better alternative for okada riders than any political party in the country.

He advised okada riders not to fall for the deceptive promise of former President John Dramani Mahama to legalize the okada business.

NPP government is not promising to legalize okada but we will offer a better alternative to the okada business to enable the many Ghanaian youths who are into the okada business to get decent work…Mahama cannot be trusted because it was during his administration that the okada business was banned from operations in the country in 2012.”

Speaking at a meeting with okada riders and their leadership in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Mr. Awuku assured the riders of NPP's commitment to giving them a better living and to initiating policies and opportunities to enhance their livelihood.

He also assured them that another term of H.E Nana Akufo-Addo's exemplary leadership and service will move them into the next phase of transforming Ghana for all.

The government of the NPP, he said, has promised to offer an opportunity for okada riders to acquire cars and pay by installment as an alternative to the okada business.

He added that the youth would also be enrolled in various government job sectors such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, NABCO or security services, particularly those with the requisite qualifications.

The meeting with the okada riders and their leaders was to give them room to voice their challenges as well as their expectations from the government.

Mr. Awuku stressed the government will address their grievances.

Present at the event were the party's Greater Accra Regional Organizer Prince Obeng and the Parliamentary candidate for the Korle Klottey Constituency, Prince Debrah including other Regional executives.
