ECOM Ghana Inaugurates New Clinic For Residents Of New Fadama

ECOM Ghana Limited has inaugurated a newly constructed clinic in the Okaikwei Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region to improve healthcare delivery in the community.

The facility, an initiative of the Member of Parliament, Patrick Yaw Boamah, includes two wards, a laboratory, a pharmacy, an OPD unit, a kitchen, and washroom, was fully sponsored by Agro Ecom Ghana Limited to the tune of US$200,000.00 in honour of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony last Saturday, ECOM Regional Director, West Africa & Middle East, Rahul Gopinath, stated that Agro Ecom Ghana Limited has been at the forefront of creating rural prosperity for some time now.

According to him, in 2000, Agro ECOM was the first to introduce computers and computer literate managers into the cocoa industry.

He stated that in 2008 the COCOBOD Agro Ecom Traceable foundation was established, which was then, the largest philanthropic organization working directly with farming communities in Ghana.

“By 2010, Agro ECOM convinced chocolate makers to invest in a traceable premium that funded schools, hospitals and provided potable drinking water projects and mosquito bed nets in the rural communities of Ghana.”

“The Otumfuo Agro ECOM mobile learning platform initiative is now leading the way in providing ICT skills to rural youngsters,” he disclosed.
Mr. Rahul Gopinath expressed delight that ECOM has met a pertinent need in the lives of the New Fadama community, which he stressed will benefit many generations with the right maintenance culture.

Among dignitaries to grace the occasion were the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Mrs. Rebecca Akuffu Addo; The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu; the Spokesperson of the Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu; the MP for Okaikwei Central; Hon Patrick Yaw Boamah; Rahul Gopinath, Regional Director West Africa & Middle East; Muhmmadu Muzzammil the Country Head of ECOM Ghana and other dignitaries.

ECOM Ghana has provided infrastructure developments in Health, access to potable water and education through its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.

The company has refurbished 7 hospitals and 35 schools, installed over 300 boreholes, distributed 50 computer classrooms and invested GH¢1.4 Million with the Otumfuo Agro ECOM mobile learning platform, providing ICT training to rural kids.

ECOM Ghana works with 150,000 farmers on various entrepreneurship initiatives, which are geared towards helping build rural prosperity.
