COVID-19: Another Lockdown Won't Help Ghana - Fmr. Upper Denkyira West MP

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper Denkyira West, Ben Aryeh has kicked against the possibility of another lockdown in Ghana.

Ghana's COVID-19 active cases have increased to 1,156, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) amidst fears of a second wave.

The country has recorded 198 new cases with overall case count standing at 49,202 and 47,726 people have recovered/discharged.

With countries like France, Germany, United Kingdom and others going on either partial or national lockdown, there are also fears that Ghana toe the line.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Ben Aryeh advised Ghanaians not to let their guard down.

He bemoaned the citizenry's disregard for the COVID-19 protocols with particular emphasis on wearing nose masks and practicing social distancing.

Ben Aryeh asked Ghanaians to get back to the protocols and further hoped Ghana would not go on a lockdown.

"When you look at our circumstance, lockdown doesn't help us. It's not practicable . . . in situation where about 10 people sleep in one room, will you help them if you lock down?"
 he rhetorically asked.

He also urged all Ghanaians to be each other's keeper.

"Everybody should join the crusade. The media should play their roles. Political party leadership should play their role. Pastors and everyone must play their role," he stated.
