Heads Of States Show Solidarity With Ivorian People - Minister

Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs, late Saturday said the presence of various Heads of States at the investiture of Ivorian President Allasane Quattara indicated their solidarity with the people of the Ivory Coast. He said although the presidents did not have the chance to make speeches at the event, it was evident that they were keen to assist the country to return to normalcy. Alhaji Mumuni made these statements to journalists at the Kotoka International Airport, when President Atta-Mills arrived back from Ivory Coast where he witnessed the swearing in of Mr. Quattara. He described the occasion as the day signalling a new beginning for the people, a chance for them to rebuild their country, to reconstruct and bring back the glory of the Ivory Coast. He said the occasion attracted a lot of dignitaries; almost all the heads of states in the ECOWAS sub-region as well as the likes of Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations. Alhaji Mumuni said President Quattara has pledged to work hard in the interest of the country adding that the tone of the speech was conciliatory and seemed to be all inclusive. He praised the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band for their splendid performance at the ceremony and said Ghana would support Ivory Coast in its quest to regain peace. President Mills was met on arrival by Vice President John Dramani Mahama, Nii Armah Ashittey, Greater Accra Regional Minister.
