Election 2020: Don’t Allow Politicians To Use You-Chief Of Kamanpa Advises Gonja Youth

Chief of Kamanpa in the Pru west District of the Bono East region Rev. Nana Kwame Wande II has advised the Gonja youth not to allow themselves to be used in election violence as we approach the 2020 elections.

He notes that the politicians only see politics as a game and as such, they only use the youths as tools to pursue their interests.

Addressing the Gonja Land youth Association members at Kamanpa during the celebration of their 4th Damba festival under a theme: Promoting peaceful election, the role of the chiefs and youth, he stated: “Politics is about the exchange of ideas, It is not about fighting and from where we sit as mediators you might even hear the politicians on radio stations screaming but once they get out and you see them outside eating together.

So our appeal to the Gonja young is don’t allow yourselves to be used. Go about your daily work, make money and enjoy your life. At the end of the day, they call it a game. One person will win and one person will lose.

He appealed to them to stay neutral and help people understand that let’s calm down and go through the election process and at the end of the day whoever wins we still have our peace”, he added.

In his concluding remarks, he once again appealed to the youths not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause election violence. “You have so many years ahead of you. Sometimes you are maimed or killed and the politician is still there. You should understand that politicians call it a game but we are not going to be players in that game”, he stated.
