Mahama Promises To Exempt Petty Traders From Income Tax

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) presidential candidate, Mr John Dramani Mahama, has promised tax exemption for petty traders when he comes into power.

He said traders who did not earn up to GH₵200,000 within a year would be exempted from paying income tax.

According to him, the move is to help petty traders expand their business and create more jobs.

“All petty traders with small shops, the taxes you pay to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) which goes to the government is going to be removed,” he said during an engagement with traders at the Kaneshie Market on Saturday.

“If from your sales within a year, do not amount to GHS200,000, you will be exempted from paying the income tax to the GRA,” he added.
