'Democracy Isn't Do Or Die Affair'; Your Attitude Was Bad! - Dr. Asah Asante Blasts Carlos Ahenkorah

Senior Political Science Lecturer of the Univesity of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asah Asante has expressed utter disappointment in the Member of Parliament(MP) for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah over his dishonourable act in the Legislative House on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

Dr. Kwame Asah Asante bemoaned the behaviour of Carlos Ahenkorah for deciding to run away with ballot papers.

Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah, on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, showcased his athletic abilities as he snatched ballot papers meant to elect a new Speaker and sprinted with them like Usain Bolt but his action was foiled by his colleague MPs who chased after him.

Following the infamous action of Carlos Ahenkorah, a new Speaker in the person of Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin was named to steer affairs of the 8th Parliament which was inaugurated on the same day.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Dr. Asah Asante condemned Carlos Ahenkorah saying the attitude he put up in the House was reprehensible.

He asked Hon. Ahenkorah to render an unqualified apology to Ghanaians.

"Democracy is not by force. You choose to join if you like and when you join too, there are rules governing it . . . Democracy isn't do or die affair. Such an attitude is bad. He didn't act properly. He must render an apology to us," he said.
