Will I Send Ghanaian Kids To School In January 2021, No! Omane Boamah Writes...

My friend on Facebook, Kweku Ampah Anaman asked why I support kids going to school.
Me: I am NOT FULLY in support. I wish they didn't.
However, I think about the kids having online education, mine included, while others decay for lack of access.
For how long can this continue? I wish government did more by providing preloaded simple ICT devices so the deprived children could learn at home even where there is no internet. This has not happened since March last year. They must also learn.
Will I send Ghanaian kids to school in January 2021, No!
January is being punished for the carelessness and recklessness during the elections and Christmas. This is why the COVID infections are increasing.
Therefore, government should let this dangerous ongoing COVID wave pass while ensuring and enforcing strict protocols without discrimination.
Hopefully, by mid February the coast will be clearer.
The African Union has almost secured 300 million vaccines. Assuming Ghana gets 6 million of that by mid year, we can prioritise the elderly above 65 years, health workers, teachers and people with preexisting diseases for vaccination.
Thanks for asking Kwame.
