NDC Activist Accuses Akufo-Addo Of Causing Spike In COVID-19 Cases . . . NPP Fights Back

A member of the Communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are responsible for the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Peace FM's 'The Platform' programme, Onasis Kobby said the ruling government gave the impression that COVID-19 was no longer a threat with their 'frequent walks' and other campaign activities.

"Who are we deceiving? We had a President who at the height of the Covid outbreak looked on while his party organized primaries with disregard to Covid safety protocols . . . if the President himself is meeting large gatherings, addressing rallies . . . We were expecting him to lead by example, but he disregarded the Covid protocols; then all the political actors also joined . . . " he indicated.

However, Kwasi Kwarteng also a member of the Communication Team disagrees.

Speaking on the same platform, he said it was unfair to point accusing fingers at the President.

"It's sad he has reduced Covid to politics . . . Scientists have taught us that the incubation period for the virus is between 10 to 15 days so on what basis is he saying NPP primaries which was held in June caused the current spike . . . what happened to their COVID response team?" he queried.
