Posterity Will Remember Your Good Works And Applaud You - Charles Owusu Tells Mahama

Charles Owusu, Head of the Monitoring Unit of the Forestry Commission, has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to accept defeat if his election petition doesn't go in his favor.

According to Charles Owusu, Mr. John Mahama has left an indelible mark of his good works in the history books of Ghana and so should hold his head up high.

He cited some infrastructure projects such as the state-of-the-art Kejetia and Tafo markets at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Kasoa interchange among other projects which have become possible due to the foresight and work of Mr. Mahama.

He cautioned Mr. Mahama and all politicians not to be blinded by politics and their quest for power to ruin their legacies and the nation at large.

"It's very difficult to turn the past into present; very difficult . . . We should accept that we won't let the outcome of an election send the nation into destruction . . . If you don't win the court case, it doesn't mean you haven't made your mark in the country. Posterity will remember your good works and applaud you. So, we should let peace, love and unity that exist among us to continue to exist. We shouldn't allow politics and elections to divide the nation," Charles Owusu stated on Peace FM's  "Kokrokoo" Friday morning.

Mahama Files Application To Halt Court Proceedings

Mr. John Dramani Mahama, a petitioner in the ongoing election 2020 petition at the Supreme Court, has filed an application to stop the hearing of his petition before the court.

He filed the petition 22 days ago on 30 December 2020.

According to a motion on notice for stay of proceedings filed on Thursday, January, 21, 2021 and expected to be moved on Tuesday, January 26, Mr. Mahama says he has been advised by his lawyers and believe that the Application for Review of the Supreme Court decision that dismissed their application for interlocutories is based on certain fundamental errors of law that the Court made in its ruling, leading to a miscarriage of justice, a publication by Asaase radio established.

“At the hearing of this application, counsel will crave the indulgence of the Court to refer to the statement of Case in support of the Application for Review, particularly to show that there are indeed serious matters of law that are to be determined in this review application, and I am likely to succeed, as the Ruling of the Court is manifestly in error” the application stated.
