Stop Blaming Politicians And Observe The COVID-19 Protocols - Ghanaians Told

A Senior Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Asah Asante says Ghanaians should stop blaming politicians for the current hike of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Some Ghanaians are said to have refused to wear their nose masks and observe all protocols to prevent the spread of the disease because they witnessed supporters and members of the political parties disregard the protocols during the campaign season prior to the 2020 general elections.

In a vox pop conducted by Peace FM news team, some Ghanaians could be heard asking why the government wants to use the security forces to compel them to observe the protocols when the political leaders ignored the protocols in the campaign era.

Addressing the issues on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' on Monday, January 25, Dr. Asah Asante cautioned Ghanaians against making such statements and using it as warrant to condone the protocols.

He asked Ghanaians why they aren't blaming themselves too because they equally disregarded the protocols during the Christmas festivities.

Dr. Asah Asante admonished the citizens not to blame politicians for the spread of the disease but rather guard themselves by complying with the protocols stressing it's their duty to protect their own lives.

"Let strictly observe the protocols and it will help you. It's your duty. You want to live and if you can live, you need life...You need life before you can make progress. You need life before you can enjoy peace, good living and everything that's important to us in life...Our life is not for the government but for us. If we want it, we will live but we will lose it if we leave it," he said.
