We Want To Return To Normal Life; Go And Get Vaccinated! - Nana Akomea To Ghanaians

Nana Akomea, the Managing Director of the State Transport Company (STC), has urged Ghanaians to take the COVID-19 vaccines in order for the nation to return to normal life.

The Government of Ghana has received 600,000 COVID-19 vaccines.

The government has begun administering the vaccines to high-profile personalities, media practitioners and frontline health workers among others.

President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo together with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia were the first recipients of the vaccine.

They were televised live on national screens on Monday, March 1 taking their doses.

Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Nana Akomea disclosed he will also received the vaccine and advised all Ghanaians to do same.

He noted that the vaccine is the surest protection against the Coronavirus pandemic.

He believed it will ensure Ghanainas go back to their normal living where they don't have to wear nose masks and bear the headache of observing all other COVID-19 protocols.

"Everybody must be vaccinated for there to be a herd immunity in the country meaning even if people get infected, they won't fall sick to be admitted in the hospital or lose their lives. But before that can be possible, about 80 to 90 percent of Ghanaians have to be vaccinated.

"I'm cocksure the vaccines will cover all Ghanaians. We have to get back to normal. We should be able to meet again and also go about our normal work routines. But because not every person has been vaccinated, we have to continue to wear the masks and observe all COVID-19 protocols. When we're able to vaccinate about 80 to 90 percent, our lives will come back to normal and there will be no need for wearing the masks," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
