We Must Praise Ourselves For Exposing The Anti-Ewe Textbooks - Kabila

Former General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh says Ghanaians should pat themselves on the back for exposing the offensive textbooks that have dominated discussions on the air waves.

A barrage of criticisms have been hurled against the publishers of the textbooks, Badu Nkansah Limited and Golden Publications for publishing textbooks which disparage Ewes and Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Despite Badu Nkansah Ltd. apologizing for their "offensive description" of Ewes in the publication saying “we sincerely regret this which won’t happen again”, there are further incessant calls on the publishers of the 'juju-loving' Ewe textbook to render a proper apology to the Chiefs and people of the Volta Region.

“Unfortunately, while undergoing the review, a limited quantity of the unpublished draft found its way into the market. We have seen certain snapshots on social media which has generated justified public uproar due to their offensive tone.

“Though it is not a deliberate attempt to berate such a huge section of our society, we wish to unreservedly apologize for the slip. Our brand stands for national unity, and we currently employ workers who originate from all parts of the country.”

“Once again, ours is a brand that values National unity. We apologize to all those affected and we apologize to all Ghanaians that such thing will never happen again,” a statement from the Publisher read.

To James Kwabena Bomfeh, huge credit should be given to the Ghanaian people who discovered the offensive contents of the textbooks before it caused any damage to the society because of its derogatory contents.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", James Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila, said; ''We must commend ourselves for discovering this early. We usually undermine ourselves too much. The positive thing is that we have discovered this and immediately we're dealing with it."

He also appealed to the regulator of the textbooks, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) to produce their own textbooks to set the standard for authors who may want to publish books for students in the country.

"NaCCA has a responsibility of producing a standardized textbook which will be a measure or standard bearer for all others," he stated.
