Vaccination Has Reduced Severity of COVID-19 Cases - Dr Dacosta Aboagye

Dr Dacosta Aboagye, Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service has described a two-way approach of the Covid-19 vaccination as there is a probability of getting infected again after vaccination with mild symptoms and the probability of not getting infected again after the first jab.

“There is a possibility that the person who has taken the Covid-19 vaccine can still get infected with the Covid-19 but instead of getting to the severe stage of the attack which can claim your life, your situation becomes mild. It is also likely that the majority will not get infected again with the Covid-19 after the jab. It is the two-way approach,” he asserted.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Dr. Dacosta Aboagye indicated that the vaccination has a long way of saving lives as their checks from the UK are showing drastical reduction of people being hospitalized after the vaccination.

He stressed that the vaccines have reduced the severity of the disease in the United Kingdom (UK) after they were administered on the people, adding that the situation in the country has improved after the first doses of the Covid-19 vaccines were administered.

“If you check from the UK which started the vaccination, the hospitalization has reduced drastically and it is still reducing and so the vaccines will reduce the severity of the disease,” he indicated.

He said that the aim of the government is to ensure that every Ghanaian is vaccinated as it is the surest way to protect them and their families, communities, and the nation at large.
