Agogo Nkosoɔhene Appeals For Clemency For Native Sentenced To Life Imprisonment At Nsawam Prison

The Nkosoɔhene of Agogo Traditional Area, who is also the Chairman of the Agogo Youth Association, Oheneba Nana Osei Tutu, is appealing to the Government of Ghana and other Civil Society Groups to help release a native who has been sentenced for life for shooting and killing a Fulani herdman at Agogo in the Ashanti Region.

Narrating the issue to Peace FM News, the Nkosoɔhene said their native, Yaw Obeng, in self-defence, accidentally killed a Fulani herdsman eight years ago when he tried to prevent some Fulani herdsmen with their cattle from invading his farm.

In an attempt of defend himself and prevent an attack by the Fulani man’s cattle from destroying his farm, he accidentally pulled the trigger of a gun killing one Fulani.

Mr. Yaw Obeng was later sentenced in 2013 for life by the Kumasi High Court for killing, but the Chief and youth of the community believe justice wasn't well-served.

Oheneba Nana Osei Tutu is therefore appealing to the government and other human right bodies to help seek justice for their native and secure his release from prison or reduce his sentence.
