AstraZeneca Second Dose To Come In May - GHS

The Ghana Health Service has assured Ghanaians the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in May this year.

The country had its first batch of the vaccine in March.

Six hundred thousand (600,000) vaccines were procured by the government and frontline health workers, government officials and the media among other selected categories of people received the first dose awaiting their second jab to complete the vaccine effectiveness in protecting them against the Coronavirus disease.

The receivers of the vaccines expected their second dose to commence in April but the vaccines are not yet in.

Speaking in an interview with Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, stated emphatically that he is "pretty sure that, looking at all the arrangement that is ongoing, we will have them in May''.

He urged the receivers to keep their fingers crossed for their second dose in May.
