Galamsey Fight: Is A Step In Right Direction Of Prez. Akufo-Addo To Protect Our Water Bodies

Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP has commended President Akufo-Addo for authorizing the Ghana Armed Forces to deploy 200 soldiers to go after all persons involved in illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.

He called on the nation to collectively fight against galamsey menace saying “we should all be truthful to ourselves that galamsey activities has its negative implications and is seriously destroying our water bodies”.

Speaking on UTV’s “Adekye Nsroma”, Abronye DC lauded President Akufo-Addo for not giving up on the fight.

He noted that the President’s effort is a “step in the right direction.”

“If you stay in Accra and doing galamsey in the Central Region, you don’t have to tell me it will not have any negative implications on you. It will have an effect on you because the polluted water is the same water for you who is living in Accra.

“Aside polluting our water bodies, it has several effects on our body based on the chemicals they use in their activities. Not only that, but it will also bring severe hunger in the country if nothing is done about it”, he lamented.
