No Increment In Transport Fares Yet – GPRTU Chairman

The National Chairman of the Ghana Private Roads and Transport Unions (GPRTU) says the union has not officially increased transportation fares as been speculated.

Nana Nimalo Bresiama strongly denied the increment of fares by 20% but hinted there will be a change after the stakeholders meeting in the coming days.

“We have not yet increased transport fares,” he was emphatic in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie'.

His comment follows a communique from the private transport operators.

The increment, they say, takes effect on Monday, May 17, 2021.

The development comes after a series of engagements among members of the Ghana Committed Drivers Association, International Drivers Road Transport Union, the Truth Drivers Union and the Concerned Drivers Association.

But Nana Nimalo Bresiama said, “The fares remain the same. If there is an increment, it will come from us. The union will hold a series of meetings to conclude on the new fares.”
