We Don’t Have Abandoned Rotten Vehicles At National Security Premises - MASLOC

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Alberta Afia Akoto Nixon, has denied reports that her outfit has abandoned vehicles at the National Security Ministry to rot.

Afia Akoto as she is popularly called stated that there were a number of cars abandoned under the previous administration due to its inflated prices but due to the timely intervention of President Akufo-Addo, they were reduced and cleared except the ones "not fit for purpose".

When reports emerged that there some abandoned vehicles at the National Security, Caleb Kudah, a Citi FM journalist decided to verify if they were indeed there or have been moved. Subsequently, he was arrested for filming on the premises which is considered a security zone.

Meanwhile, Caleb Kudah has since been released.

Former CEO

Former CEO of MASLOC, Dr Stephen Amoah says over 90% of the vehicles have been released to different government agencies for use and that it is misleading to assume that they have been abandoned

"The GPRTU had rejected the vehicles over claims that the prices were too outrageous so they could not use them . . . for the security and protection of the vehicles, we (MASLOC) had the opportunity to use the park of the national security, and they have their own rules. The vehicles never got rotten. I can tell you about 300 vehicles comprising buses and Aveo and Spark Lite saloon cars have all been released”.

Caleb 'dabbles in propaganda'

Adding to the debate, Afia Akoto who was speaking in an interview on Peace FM's The Platform programme accused Caleb Kudah of engaging in propaganda mischief because he "put out a 2018 picture" of the vehicles.

She explained, "We don’t have cars at the national security rotting . . . the cars there currently are only 12 and they all have factory defects . . . those are the cars Caleb thinks we've abandoned but it's never true. The cars are in the hands of the government and we are to lead in auctioning them".
