N/R: NPP Youth Groups Thank Prez Nana Addo For Setting Up The Nana Adjei Mensah's Committee To Restructure Northern Development Authority
Joint NPP youth groups of Northern Ghana have expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for setting up the Nana Adjei Mensah Committee to review and restructure the Northern Development Authority. The youth have hailed His Excellency the President for this singular honour and this has shown that the President is a listening President. It means he has his ears on the ground and has listened to the cry of the people of Northern Ghana over the issues at Northern Development Authority.
The setting up of the Committee had become necessary following the failure of the Acting CEO, Dr Boniface Agambila and the Board led by Hakeem Wemah to restructure NDA. Their preliminary report sent to the Jubilee House after one month of work was abysmal and disappointing to say the least. They requested for a one-month extension of work but His Excellency the President in his wisdom denied the request and sets up a committee to take a holistic look at the issues of the Authority.
Upon the arrival of the committee and commencement of work till today, information available to the youth suggest that the staff of NDA both at the Northern and Upper Regions have expressed their excitement over the professional conduct of the committee led by Nana Adjei Mensah. The committee has engaged with the staff, management and board of the Authority and has given all of them a fair hearing. The staff of the authority have spoken about the high level of competence and impartiality of the work of the committee. There is no doubt that the committee would discharge their mandate creditably and we can only wish them well.
The NPP youth of Northern Ghana wants to especially thank His Excellency the President for his wisdom and candour in setting up the committee. We want to assure His Excellency the President and the Nana Adjei Mensah led committee that we the youth of Northern Ghana are solidly behind them and we encourage the committee to continue with the good work.
It's however instructive to note that the recommendations of the Nana Adjei Mensah committee must produce a new board with fresh minds and conduct to drive the mandate of the authority. The current board led by Hakeem Wemah has outlived its usefulness as they could not boast of a single policy to management aimed at improving the work of the authority throughout their four(4) years tenure as Board of the authority, this is the case of a dormant board with no clear understanding of their role at the authority. This explains why after failing to live up to their mandate wants to turn themselves into managers in direct opposite of the role of aboard. After all this mess caused by the board and the Acting CEO, they still want to cling onto NDA as Jubilee House directs them to handover latest by June 15.
It's the wish of all well-meaning Ghanaians especially those of Ghana's North that the recommendations of the Nana Adjei Mensah committee would be followed and implemented by His Excellency the President, this would help position the authority as a silver-lining institution for growth and prosperity for the catchment areas of Northern Development Authority.
The youth of Northern Ghana believes in the kind heart of His Excellency the President how well he means for the good people of the North and would do all humanly possible to prioritize their growth and prosperity over personalities. In view of this, we hope that the next CEO of the authority would be someone who would continue to protect the interest of His Excellency the President and government and the interest of the good people of Northern Ghana.
