Apology And Retraction

On Friday, 25th June, 2021, we (Peacefmonline.com) published an article titled "GRA SET TO INVESTIGATE TOP COMPANIES FOR TAX EVASION AND MONEY LAUNDERING" wherein it was alleged that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), in collaboration with relevant stakeholders such as the Financial Intelligence Unit, Economic and Organized Office (EOCO) and the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) formerly known as BNI, are set to launch a full scale investigations against some popular companies in Ghana.

The exercise, according to the publication, was geared towards ascertaining compliance with the provisions of tax laws, and named some five reputable businesses as allegedly culpable in these irregularities.

The report further claimed the imminent investigation of these companies and businesses owned and operated by foreign nationals such as Lebanese, Indians and Chinese, is as a result of suspected offenses relating to tax evasion, non tax compliance and money laundering which contravenes the laws of the Republic.

Following the publication, officials of some of the wrongfully-indicted companies have reached out to us to set the records straight.

Additionally, upon further cross-checking, it is clear Peacefmonline.com erred in publishing that misleading story.

We thus hereby retract the offending story and unreservedly apologize to the five companies, their shareholders and trading partners, and all other persons this story may have caused harm.

As a mark of the sincerity of our apology and retraction, links to the earlier publication have been disabled.
