President of Techiman City Wants 2020/21 Premier League Season Declared Null And Void Amidst Match Fixing Claims

President of Techiman City FC Charles Kwadwo Ntim has began a campaign for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season to be annulled after a suspicious match-fixing game involving AshantiGold and Inter Allies left many fans across the world questioning the integrity of the Ghanaian top-flight league.

The Ghana Football Association have said they will investigate the matter further, and have asked for relevant information to help their probe, as well as speaking to both clubs with Executive Council member Dr Ransford Abbey telling Accra-based Asempa FM the Ghanaian football governing body will use the case to start a fight against match-fixing in Ghanaian football.

Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah came on for Inter Allies against Ashanti Gold with the score at 5-0 and scored two own goals in the final 12 minutes before being subbed off as the match finished 7-0 on the final day of the season on Saturday.

The game has left many to question the integrity of the league which ended last weekend with 2000 CAF Champions League and 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners Hearts of Oak lifting the title after finishing top of the table with 61 points after 34 matches.

Despite the assurance by the Ghana FA to investigate the suspicious game the Techiman City boss has penned a petition to government to launch an independent probe into the

“I think Kessben Media must be commended for bringing out videos of the alleged match fixing between [AshantiGold] and Inter Allies,” he took to his Facebook page

“The government of Ghana as a matter of urgency must ask the CID, National Security and the NIB (BNI) to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The government must not wait for the Ghana Football Association since names popping up involve some members and officials of the GFA. Match fixing is a crime and this one looks like an organized crime. The investigation must not start from the [AshantiGold] Vs [Inter Allies] game.

“These things started as far back from the first round of matches in the Ghana Premier League and Division One League. The MTN FA Cup matches were even worse. The 2020/21 football season was a SHAM and must be declared NULL AND VOID. THE GOVERNMENT MUST NOT WAIT FOR THE GFA. This is a disgrace not only to football, but AMA GHANA.”
