FDA Removes Unwholesome Ceres Apple Juice From Market

The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA has recalled certain batches of the Ceres 100% Apple Juice from the market.

This follows information from the International Food Safety Network and manufacturer of the product, Pioneer Foods Groceries in South Africa confirming that extensive laboratory tests have revealed that the product contained toxic compound, mycotoxin-patulin, higher than the regulatory threshold.

A statement by the FDA explained that so far, most of the affected batches have been successfully retrieved including all the One Liter pack sizes.

It said the FDA’s Market Surveillance team is working earnestly with the importer to remove all the affected products from the market.
